Released February, 2006. LP, 70 minutes. Conceived as an ongoing series of pure, hypnotic ambience, The Sleepover Series Volume 1 features the first appearance of solo compositions from Marc Byrd of the duo Hammock (Andrew Thompson, the other half, provides support, and one of the tracks is credited to Hammock). Wordless and beatless drone, the series captures Byrd's signature sound in a new context. Thick sheets of guitars slowly move in and out of focus, creating a mysterious, sepia-toned atmosphere. The pieces are so evocative you'll find yourself, consciously or subconsciously, directing your own movie to this beautiful soundtrack. Perfect for a night of stargazing, flat on your back.
